NITRO 2003-04 Series Race #4:

SuperStock Results

NITRO Tjet Results

Fray Tjet Results

This was the first NITRO race on John "Zipper" Duda's new Brystal Riverside Track. We had a record 27 racers show up to this race.

I'll let Zipper describe the day:

This weekend The Outhouse Raceway hosted back to back series races for the QCMARS group and the NITRO race group. To say the old place was rockin doesn't tell the whole story! Racers from around the Mid West converged on the track ready to do some serious T-jet racin and just a touch of s/s thrown in to make things interesting. BigKaluna, KC Sheep and yours truly sat on the podium for the Fray style race of the QCMARS group Friday night. The box stock race was won by the captain of "P.O.S" racing, Jim Batton. S/S was won by "Cujo McWilliams" followed by the Zipp. Just as a sideline,,,,,,my first ever out of town race was several years ago. Tmac built a car for me that was very good,,,,,,but I drive fast cars slowly and did not do to well. On Friday night I was finally able to repay the kindness he showed me, a virtual stranger a few years ago......I built him a car to run the s/s race with and he beat me with it for the win. And I must say, I smiled as much as I have in a long, long time. The NITRO series followed on Saturday with a RECORD number of racers! 27 racers plus a few spectators jammed into the Outhouse! This was a very high quality field as some of the countries top builders and drivers were on hand to battle it out. When the smoke (and fumes) cleared, it was two locals that lead the field......"Danger Dan" Rothwell, and Big" Dan Luna"Kaluna, showing that the drivers in NITRO were rapidly improving. Along with some familiar faces at the Outhouse, one new attendee brought some attention to himself...... Don Born(sp) from KC came up with a group of 8 other racers from the KC area. Don is a long time racer. He builds great cars and drives them well. But most impresssive was his behavior. He always had a smile on his face, and marshalled even when he could have been tweaking his cars. At the end of the evening he even took his car apart and explained of few things about his set up. It was a pleasure meeting him. I got to drive a real FRAY car as well. KC Sheep loaned out a very good car..... of course I drove it too slowly, but the gesture was heart felt. I would like to thank all those that came. I will look forward to the Quad City Quarrel race this March...........

,,,,,another pleasure was seeing two young racers compete. Tmac brought his son, Micheal. There was another young racer, Andrew, as well. It was almost the first time that " kids" have been in the field. I hope they had a good time. It was a lengthy day of racing with all the racers. But these two hung in there to the final heats! Good job boys!

Since it is common knowledge that computers and I do not get along too well, I need to say something about some very special people. My Race Director Pete Bruecken does a masterful job of keeping things moving. He was assisted this weekend by Tmac, and LDThomas. Without the cooperation of good friends, the race most likely would not be held. I also know that the building will be cleaner than when they arrived..... Some of the Outhouse regulars were missing this weekend.

You guys missed a good one!

After the race Steve Medanic, Jim Nagy and Erik Ruud took a ride down to see the site of the upcoming Quad City Quarrel. Photos of the tracks are available here

The Impound area. That a lot of TJets!
